Mayco Stoneware Glaze Combinations on White and Grey Matte

These tiles are a combination of Mayco Stoneware glazes over either Matte White and Matte Grey. The tiles were bisque-fired to cone 04 and glaze-fired to cone 5. Three coats of each glaze were applied using a brush. The tiles are either Tucker's Bright White or Plainsman P300 clay. The top glaze is the first name listed in the description and the bottom one is the second. And, as usual, the part in the middle is the interface,

Amaco "Potter's Choice" or "Celadon" Glazes with Mayco Stoneware or Stroke and Coat

I always test glazes prior to using them on my work. Many times, a glaze test can inspire the making of a piece which suits how the glazes perform. Here I have tested how Amaco and Mayco glazes "play" with each other. The test tiles are either Tucker's Bright White clay or Plainsman P300 clay bisque-fired to cone 04 and glaze-fired to cone 5 with no hold. Each glaze has been applied with a brush, three coats each. The top of the tile is the first glaze listed in the description and the second one is at the bottom of the tile. The area in the middle of each tile is where the two glazes interface.

Amaco Glaze Layering Tests

These are tests using two types of Amaco Glazes. The top glaze is the first one listed in the description and the bottom of the tile is the 2nd one. In the middle, you can see the glaze interface (or where the 2 glazes combine). Three layers of each glaze was applied using a brush. These tiles were bisque-fired to cone 04 and the glaze-fired to cone 5 (with no hold ) in a Skutt electric kiln. Unless otherwise stated, they are on Tucker's Bright White Clay.
